BŪCH was founded on the concept of “why pay for your drinks twice”? We love to socialize with our loved ones and have a good time, but why should we have to feel like shit the next day? Can’t we do it in a healthier way? Yes you can! We create all of our products to bring you all of the enjoyment with minimal regrets. All of our products are gluten and sugar-free, made with the most natural ingredients, with added electrolytes and Vitamin C to help you ‘feel good about being bad’.
In 2012 the founder, Ryan, got back from his second overseas deployment and discovered his body couldn’t handle beer anymore. Being an avid home brewer Ryan was quite disappointed, but realized an opportunity to merge two passions – being healthy and having fun. Being a homebrewer also making kombucha – he set out to make a ‘healthier way to drink’. Taking the health benefits of kombucha, the cleanest alcohol possible and make it delicious without the sugar, gluten or artificial ingredients – BŪCH was born!
In 2020 Ryan and two of his Army deployment buddies, Nick and Frank, set out to share our delicious beverage with the world. We put together enough money together to bootstrap a proof of concept over the winter in 2021 – and in July 2021 we brought our first baby into the world – Grapefruit Ginger. Consumer responses were amazing, so over the next winter we upgraded our equipment to increase production. The following spring we debuted our next flavors – Passionfruit Elderflower, Lychee Lemongrass, and Cherry Rosemary. Additionally, we welcomed the newest member to the team – Mason! (also an Infantry buddy from our 2011-2012 deployment).
In the summer of 2022 we realized we were growing out of our manufacturing-only facility in Saint Louis Park, so began to seek out a larger space where we could increase production and have a taproom! We lucked out finding our beautiful new home in NE Minneapolis, where we’ve been able to really start using our creativity in making new and innovative healthier drink options.
